Internship Program for Transcriptionists (offered to students who reside in the US only)
Win-win program for TCI graduates and transcription companies
Once you've passed the course with a final score above 80, you can get practical experience by doing an unpaid internship for a transcription company. As a transcription intern, you will gain valuable industry experience. You need to transcribe up to 5 hours of recorded audio during your internship. There is a possible opportunity for employment after your internship period ends.
* Our internship is not available to people located in California and transcription companies may not be hiring people located in California due to Assembly Bill 5.
Here’s how it works:
- The Transcription Certification Institute has a list of transcription companies interested in hiring TCI graduates as interns.
- Transcriptionists who pass the course will automatically be eligible to qualify for an internship opportunity.
- Interns are required to commit to transcribing up to five hours of recorded audio.
- Interns are required to meet the existing standards of the transcription company that they are interning with.
- Once the internship has been completed, the transcription company will provide a completion letter and agree to be a reference for the transcriptionist.
- Transcriptionists are not required to work for the transcription company after the internship completion.
- The transcription company is not committing any future work after the internship completion.
Here are the transcription internship program details:
Transcriptionists:
The internship allows TCI graduates to gain real-world experience by transcribing files for real clients. This will help our graduates gain work experience and a reference to help them establish a career in transcription.
Here is how the process works:
- You opt-in for an internship after passing your certification program.
- You will sign up as an independent contractor with the transcription company providing you with an internship.
- The transcription company will send you the paperwork needed to become an independent contractor.
- You commit to transcribing up to five hours of recording at no cost to the transcription company.
- You only accept projects where you can meet accuracy requirements and the deadline.
- You transcribe the recording on time and send the transcripts to the company.
Note: The transcription company you interned with does not guarantee employment or further work once the internship has been completed.
Transcription Company:
Transcription companies provide real work to TCI graduates. The only requirement is to guide the transcriptionist, provide a letter detailing job performance, and a reference if needed.
- Agree to provide work to the transcriptionist during the internship.
- Send all relevant paperwork to hire transcriptionists as independent contractors.
- Provide a letter of completion after five hours of transcription is completed. Rate the certified transcriptionist in the letter based on their performance.
